California here I come...

Four more days until I arrive in California!!!  Although I am not looking forward to the flights, I am so excited for Mexican food...AND to see my family and friends of course.  I can't believe an entire year has passed since I was in San Diego, how time flies.  I hope everyone is well and I  look forward to seeing you very soon.  Lots of love...becky

Wind and Rain can be a pain

The last 4 days we have been hammered by a devastating storm. Many of the nearby rivers have flooded, whole towns have had to be evacuated, and the schools have been shut. The winds reached 130 km/h here in Byron Bay and driving was a bit scary. They sent me home from teaching on Thursday because they were afraid that if I didn't leave, I was going to have to sleep at school. Trees are everywhere and the electricity has been going off and on. We had a small break in the storm yesterday and Janu and I went on an adventure to check out the damage. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera when we drove through the flooded roadways, but I did get a few photos of the waves and him ( I was surprised at how much he enjoyed being my subject for the photos, but he might not enjoy me putting them up online).

Billy cart races in Bangalow

Good fun in Bangalow... The main street of this quaint little town was turned into a racing grounds for some keen billy cart racers this weekend. The usually busy street was lined with hay bails and enthusiasts of all ages, awaiting the start of the races. It was a fun outing and I took some photos, enjoy.

Flashbacks

Old friends...no matter how much time has passed, you always seem to pick up right where you leave off. I had the most wonderful suprise last week, my friend Jenny(who I hadn't seen in over 10 years) and her brother Matt (also a good friend) came up to visit me. Unfortunately, it has been raining for two weeks straight, and the conditions were less than favourable, but they were such troopers. It made my entire month seeing them. Feels like no time has passed. Such a blessing. Here are some photos from the reunion...

Gavin is one!

Greetings to you all out there...if anyone is still out there, that is. I have decided that my blog needs a bit more pizazz in order to appeal to any viewers. But, I have been a bit busy with school, which means my camera has been put away in my closet for over a week. So sad. I did dust it off, however, to capture the life of the most exciting subject...Gavin...who is now a year old. Enjoy!
